More on Film
The release of the new Superman movie is attracting attention. And some are seeing some christological perspectives being offered. I like the comments on the Out of Ur blog on the new movie. The point: it is one thing to explore spirituality through film and it is an entirely different thing to try to wring out the masses by turning every film into a marketing extravaganza to the church.

Thanks for the link. I have to agree that people who apply any label to themselves are going to be a target for niche marketing these days. And one of the main reasons is that they respond to it, thus perpetuating the cycle.
I think we have to be careful though, when movies or books or even music comes out and contains material that can be seen as "Christian". There is a difference in promoting a Christian message and tapping into human mythology of which the Christ story follows in many respects. While creators like director Bryan Singer will do things like label Superman as "the Jesus Christ of superheroes" that doesn't mean they are promoting belief or faith. These mythic themes are usually just a tool in their storytelling kit that they know will ressonate with all people.
