Most of the Moments

Standing at about 11,000 feet on a frozen lake in the middle of the Colorado Rockies does give a person reason to be amazed at the wonders of the creation. I'm spending a couple of days with my folks in Estes Park, CO. My dad's health is not real good, but he was up for a drive through the park yesterday and so we headed up.

I'm not sure what we can get him to do today, but it doesn't really matter to me. Any direction you go in this beautiful country is a wonder. My prayer for this trip, for each moment, is to be aware of the present. I need to have some serious conversations with my mother and father. And I'm looking for those moments--not rushing, but being ready. And I taking the same approach with the moments of each day.

So yesterday one of those conversations took place--heightened perhaps by the news that one of my dad's sister's had passed away the night before in Portland, OR. Life is simply too precious to fall into the lapse of the mundane or the everyday.
