Gender and Galatians 328

Without going into the details about the timelines of publishing, my review of Sarah Sumner's book Men and Women in the Church appeared in the current issue of Leaven Journal. For Christian people who are committed to the influence of the gospel on Christian community, the gender issues that Sumner raises are vital and significant.

Anyone wanting to read or interact more deeply and thoughtfully on gender issues, particularly as they are expressed and explored in Churches of Christ will find an important web resource with Gal328. This site is an important network center on gender issues and you will find links and ongoing discussion. Agreeing or disagreeing on all the ends and outs of gender discussions matters less to me than whether we are willing, really willing, to allow Jesus to run things and for Scripture to really be heard.

By the way, you can find a copy of my review of Sumner's book elsewhere under Book Reviews. It is only one book among many, many resources. For the rest, take a look at Gal328.

Notes to self:
1)don't read Carson's book reviews unless you want to buy another book
2) Don't go to Carson's Web links unless you have time for another daily read.

Seriosly thank you for the information. This is an issue that troubles me. It is real easy to hide behind the restrictions that our brotherhood (note gender!) places on women. However I must wonder if I am pleasing to God when I hide. If I have an ability that I keep hidden or save for "ladies only" is that pleasing to him? To me there is a lot more at stake than what my personal preferences are. For me to grow into my proper role in the kingdom I must be sure before I lamely say that "I can't do that, I am JUST a woman".

I used to have a link to GAL328.org on the Northlake web site, but I was strongly encouraged to take the entire links page off of the site. That one link was too "controversial" for some. Too bad. The page also included links to most of our universities, John Clayton's website, Freedom's Ring (Cecil Hook), Grace Centered Magazine, Heartlight, and Wineskins.
