When I came across this forgotten classic some years ago I believed that every person who is apart of the Stone-Campbell tradition should read it. I still believe it. Richardson offered a remarkable and compact summary of Campbell's teaching. Most notable is that the early movement did not teach that believing right doctrine brought salvation. Instead, Richardson argued that faith was personal and was rooted in a living relationship with Jesus Christ. What a radical idea.
